As successor to St. Peter, Pope Leo XIV teaches as the chief shepherd of the Church. This year, he began to lead the Church through a study of the Documents of the Second Vatican Council at his weekly General Audiences. In this program, Anthony Romeo and I will accompany the Holy Father as he unwraps for the Church the key concepts of the 21st Ecumenical Council -- Vatican II. At the 4th Ecumenical Council, the Council of Chalcedon, Pope St. Leo I -- Leo the Great -- was acclaimed with this chant "Peter has spoken through Leo" because of his theological formula that Christ is one person with two natures, human and divine. So too in our day, Peter is again speaking to the Church through Leo!
